Helping cancer survivors make the best of the rest of their lives.

What we do

Every day 539 Canadians are diagnosed with cancer.

Knight’s Cabin Cancer Retreats was created to be a catalyst for positive health behaviour change. We host retreats across Canada for cancer patients and their loved ones where we teach research-based health behaviours– nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management. We integrate behavioural change research to improve their chance of success. This is done in a supportive community of other people with cancer.

To ensure finances are not a barrier, the retreats are offered at a low cost to participants, subsidized by Knight’s Cabin and with financial assistance available.

Just months after high school graduation founder Dr. Lisa Belanger’s best friend, Jane Knight, was diagnosed with cancer. She did not know what to do to help her and continuously tried to find ways to make her smile.

They started going for walks and to yoga classes. Lisa noticed it relieved some of the difficulties of treatment, improved her mood and she told me she slept better.

They talked the importance of adding life to days, not days to life. As part of Jane’s legacy, Knight’s Cabin was created to help improve the quality of life of people living with cancer.
